Mounds Pet Food Warehouse

I'd love this store even if they didn't give you a free chocolate with every purchase. This pet supply chain in our area is locally owned and partners with local pet shelters.

Their prices are reasonable but more importantly, the staff seem like they care. When Yumi was so sick, our vet put her on a prescription diet. I was worried we would have to fork over the expense, but the helpful staff at Mounds recommended a grain free diet that was friendly to our budget. Yumi's been loving, "Taste Of The Wild" ever since.

I bought our bird feeder, made from recycled materials at Mounds and its stood up to fickle Wisconsin weather rather well. They also carry a brand of caged bird food our parakeets don't toss out. For some reason our birds push out seed that is dyed to resemble fruity colors.

Our favorite part of Mounds is the adoption center. At the Mounds in Janesville, I don't know why cats would even want to go home with permanent families. They have it so good there, with platforms and play areas. Its wonderful to be able to see adoptable cats being able to climb and play instead of stuck in small cages.

They really do know how to treat their human customers just as well as the animals they host from shelters. With every purchase, they give you a bite sized Mounds candy bar. When the boys are with me, they even give us three! Lucky for me, the boys don't like dark chocolate with coconut! :)

Fortunately there are enough valuable pet food in the supermarkets here because pet shops mostly have too expensive food in them. Like, for example, a 4.5 Lbs bag of dry food costs normally around $6.5 in any supermarket. In the pet shop it's around $35. Even if G's always eaten mostly the food bought from the supermarket he's still very healthy and doing well, so I'm not an active pet shop food buyer, lol!

Sounds like a great store. I always like to see pet stores that work with local rescues to place animals rather than supporting puppy mills and back yard breeders.
