On my rambling mind today...fear, frustration and understanding what matters most

Watching the news this morning I almost caved into the fear. I know way better than to fall for that. I must have been half asleep still.

China and Russia, having paid hackers to do so, could now shut down our power plants.

Wait a second....brain waking up...that's not news! We've actually been living with this threat for decades. Hmmm... didn't they also just tell us Russia and China didn't choose our side when we got upset with North Korea?

North Korea- yes the man is messed up- but why is this about being the bully with the biggest stick?

The Taliban is beating and torturing women because it feeds their need to feel powerful and superior. I don't get it. Don't they have mothers and sisters? Are they incapable of love and respect?

This craptastic world we have to share only motivates me to point out the idiocracy to my children. I'm sure it confuses them as well.

"Yes, Japan was our enemy. They bombed Pearl Harbor when your Grandfather was your age, but we dropped two atomic bombs and now they are our friends, bringing us video games."  Don't you just love teaching history?

I can't ring up the global leaders and tell them to play nice, but I can ask my children to try and do better. Its very easy to see how a little kindness and love can work wonders instead of trying to shove back.

DS13 is beginning to wonder if one day the radiation from nuclear fall out will make even clean air a commodity to be bought and sold. I can remember being his age and worrying about Russian nuclear attack. I told him we can't live in fear because then we aren't living.

Its not our finger on the switch. If doomsday comes, go outside, take a deep breath and enjoy that last moment. Maybe even rejoice that you'll soon be heading to our peaceful, perfect home. At least you'll be able to show God you loved every gift he gave you and you tried your best.

What a shame that our children are worrying about the same things we worried about (and still worry about). I remember bomb drills in school - duck under the desk, or sit in the hallway. The lucky families were those that had bomb shelters in their homes or back yards! As if those things would help us anyway!

We should always strive to make it better, because worrying about it won't change anything. Still - what a shame. Why can't we all just get along? Why can't neighbors help neighbors?

You are right. We can not live in fear all the time. There are so many who do and I don't understand how they stay sane...........:(

You are also correct in that if doomsday comes, we should enjoy our last moments on earth because living faithfully we DO have a better place to go! :o)

The world is messed up in alot of places and it is sad these diputes can't end. I remember learning that World War II was suppose to be the war to end all wars, it didn't. Maybe someday their will be world peace but I don't feel like it is going to be in our lifetime

I honestly don't feel there will ever be world peace because there has always been conflict...........:(

I remember doing bomb drills in school when I was little. It was scary then + still scary now.

Tells you something about human nature, doesn't it. All you have to do is study history to see how bloody it all is. I had to take a break with my son regarding history because it can get depressing with all the carnage. We try to concentrate on the high notes too. Otherwise, why bother?

I just wanted to add, its not that I feel like its "us and them." As a Christian Universalist, I know the plan is about all of us finding our way back home.

I wish the Kim Jong-ils and Osama Bin Ladens could hang with us in our Sleepyhouse for awhile. Couldn't I just bake a batch of brownies, put on a funny movie and we all laugh a little? Have they forgotten or maybe they never had, a loving family that helps you see what is important in this world?

I wish we all could stop and feel the love and laughter in the world. Its not that hard when you choose to look for it.

"The Only Thing To Fear, Is Fear Itself" ...

I couldn't agree more with your above statement, makes ya wonder what kind of childhood these folks had and what is going on in thier brains. In MY opinion, I think the end times are more prrevalent now than ever before, the world now is based on wrongs, not rights and maybe if other countries knew the US didn't play games like the Japenese did, they wouldn't try to scare us .. but the country is different now.

I think that this world still has its good and its beauty, but no one wants to notice it at all anymore - so many are just focused on them selves, sad.... they don't know what they are missing and I also can't help to think that if the Earth still does have the beauty that it does - Heaven must be so much better and I can't wait to get there !

We read Zlata's Diary and Zlata referred to the warring political leaders as "the kids". Meaning they were acting like a couple of spoiled children who needed to cut it out and play nice. Lot's of wisdom from children.
