Lunch- re-fried beans, homemade salsa-tomatoes, avocado, green pepper, onion, garlic, jalapeno, a little bit of cheese on a tortilla
Snack#1- two peanut butter Girl Scout cookies
Snack#2- still craving sweet- 1/2 a banana sliced- I usually only eat bananas frozen but this did satisfy my sweet tooth better than the cookies. Saving the second half if I need a bedtime snack or for tomorrow.
Supper- spicy black bean burger with homemade salsa, broccoli & corn
Reflection- I think I made some good choices today. What helped is NOT asking my family what they wanted me to make for meals. I came home from work and started putting together leftovers. They had to fend for themselves for lunch. For supper, I did suggest burgers but picked up a vegetarian option for me, trying to ignore my inner guilt. The bean burgers are way more expensive than hamburger, but I do enjoy them more. I'm hoping DH finds a job soon and then I won't feel so guilty about spending more at the grocery store.

Just a question....approx how many calories are you taking in a day...some days just don't seem like enough...just wondered how many are working for you and how you came up with how many you are using....
Your lunch, the re-fried beans dish looks yummy. I have to try that as it's easy to make and healthy.
I'm not counting calories. I'm just trying to listen to my body's signals. I'm trying to eat only when I'm hungry, stop when I'm satisfied and eat foods I'm craving. I'm trying to connect with my food and eat it consciously rather than mindless eating. I believe if I can work towards portion control, everything else will fall into place. I don't want to deny myself foods I enjoy. Eating should be pleasurable and I believe food is a gift.
I am learning how to eat all over again! I'm obviously still on the path, moving towards my destination, but even taking one step at a time, I'll still get there.
This quote I read in a Spark People article explains it better than I can.
..when you rely too much on external
(diet) tools, techniques, and rules to determine your behavior, you are
turning over your personal responsibility to the tools and techniques.
If you find yourself frequently losing motivation or feeling powerless
to control your own behavior, it’s probably because you’re counting... on
the tools to do your part of the work for you. You’re the only one who
can decide what’s right for you; only you can change your attitude and
perspective to match your personal reality."
