Sonic is here and Lefties Rock!

Those of you in the south, I'm sure, won't understand my excitement. After years of being tortured by commercials, I have learned a Sonic Drive In has opened near where I work! (Madison,WI)

It will probably be awhile before I can check it out. DH, (who also works near it), told me they have police directing traffic on the street where its located.
Forget about trying to get into the parking lot. They are lining up cars along a side street and shuffling in cars as they can.  Culvers, (Wisconsin's home grown frozen custard and butter burger franchise) is shaking in their boots I'm sure. Mind you its still very cold here in Wisconsin, yet people crazed by seeing years of Sonic commercials, are lining up for slushies!

DS10 just finished up writing his thank you cards for the birthday gifts he received. He handed them to me to look over, and there's no denying this kid is a lefty! To our family about to receive these cards, you'll see what I mean!!

I just finished reading an article on how a large percentage of US presidents have been lefties, President Obama included. Read it here.

I know we have a cousin, born just 3 weeks after DS10, that is also a lefty, and I know my mom is. I know my mother's mother was suppose to be, but growing up in Sweden a hundred years ago, they tied down her arm forcing her to use her right.

Sometimes I think my DS10 is actually ambidextrous, but I suppose that could be an effect of living in a righty world. I don't try to force him one way or the other, but just ask him to do whatever feels right.

He'll begin writing with his left hand and then sometimes switch over to his right hand as he works across the page or chalkboard. I've even caught him working on two drawings at the same time, using both of his hands simultaneously. I don't care as long as his writing is legible and he's comfortable.

Personally, although I'm probably a righty, there are some things I prefer to do with my left hand such as cut meat or swing a golf club. When I drive, I find myself favoring my left hand, (having to remind myself to use two hands on the steering wheel, especially these days!)

Well, I better get moving. I have to start work early this afternoon and before that, I have to help find the answer to the question of the day in our house-  What is the world record for the longest hug? Hmm... I wonder if anyone wants to break it with me! LOL!

Lakeland (where I live) has had Sonics come and go. Right now, they are closed again. Location caused the demise of the first one. The next one that opened says it is closed for remodeling - which makes no sense at all. There might be one way up in the north end of town that is still open, but I don't know for sure. I've never tried Sonic, and the commercials aren't that appealing to me... oh well. Hope yours is all you want it to be!

I have a Sonic near me but have never been there so can't attest to any of their items.

I see those Sonic commercials too. Culvers still reigns up here.

My son and I are Lefty's though my son is also more ambidextrous. He writes with his left hand but cuts paper with his right and many other things.

Have you ever heard of Lefty's Corner? They have some neat lefty products on their website

We got a Sonic at the end of the summer. We haven't been there yet. But I plan to when the weather gets warmer.

My DS10 is also a lefty. Always has been. None of us are. His writing isn't too good. Don't know if that's of being a lefty or cause he just hates doing it. lol Have a great day!

Yup, I see the commercials ALL the time too, but we don't have one close to us. I am guessing that yours is about the closest now, but 93 miles is too far for me to drive.

I taught myself to write with both hands long ago, I was bored. I have two leftys and everyone else is a righty. lol.

Hope that you have a great day !!!!

Never had Sonic although I must admit it is kind of irritating that I am being constantly bombarded with their commercials and can't even try it because there aren't any around here!!

I sometimes (to the horror of my tennis instructor) throw the racket into my left hand as I am running to try to get a ball that is way off to the left and I would have not chance of getting it with a backhand. Most of the time it works, but I get yelled at a lot!

We had a Sonic nearby us when we lived in Santa Fe. Never went there, though. Not into fast/junk food, personally. I *do* recall Culver's the last time we were in Wisconsin...but were they sort of new-ish in the last 10 years or so?

It's blazing hot now here! Record temperatures across South Australia and Victoria. Remember how I was wondering when summer would come? Well...it's here...with a vengeance! :~/

Oh man! I always see the advertisements, but I don't know of a single one nearby.

I am still tortured by the Sonic commercials with no Sonic or plans for one around here. :-( So,...YAY for you!!! Let me know if I've been missing anything. ;-)

My brother writes with his left hand, but bats and catches right handed. My nephew is also a lefty, but as of yet, we haven't seen any indication that he will be anything but a lefty. OK, you SO have to take a pic of DS10 working on two pics at once. I love the idea!

Lefties are so...different...lol My dad, sister, one brother, step-dad, step-aunt, husband, and three nephews are lefties. I'm surrounded! lol

One of my favourite stories is about how my sister taught me to use scissors when I was 3 or 4 and now I cut *really* funky..like a lefty, but holding the scissors in my right hand. It looks backwards and upside down at the same time.

I hope you get your Sonic fix soon! I used to go by Sonic frequently, then I forgot what it was I liked, and haven't been able to remember yet! lol Darn this bad memory!
