Our Sleepyhouse Sunday....

Woke up to everything being covered in ice. We shouldn't have even tried to go anywhere, but we needed milk. The grocery store isn't that far, but we drove because sidewalks were impassable. As it was, DS9 slipped and fell on his hip at the store. They had put down ice melt salt but there was just too much ice.

We took down our Christmas tree and tried to haul it to the curb. Our village offers free tree recycling. We tried to cut off a piece of the trunk as a souvenir, but our saw kept getting stuck and with the cold wind and icy surfaces, it just didn't work out. Every year we try to keep a slice of the trunk. Our state does this with the official state Christmas tree, and they display the tree rings at the capitol building each year. DH may bring home a better saw from work and if the tree is still at the curb, we'll try to cut off a piece. I'm not sure when the village will come with the wood chipper though.

Our dryer has stopped working properly. It still tumbles, but there's little or no heat. Why does this have to happen now, when its way too cold to line dry outside? The dryer is 7 years old. I know we've had it repaired once, years ago, and I don't know if its worth it to repair it again or look for a new one. At first this news really stressed me out, but then I forced myself to chill out. Its a stupid dryer, not worth stealing my joy for!

We watched a really cute movie, CJ7. I highly recommend it. Its by the same guy who did Kung Foo Hustle. We read the subtitles. I don't know if there is a dubbed version, but I prefer to hear the original actors speak anyway.

Here's the trailer.

That movie looks really cute! I never saw Kung Fu Hustle, but we did see Shoalin Soccer, the kids thought it was really funny!

Wonder if I can get that on NetFlix. Louie would love it. Our dryer conked out on us last October. I hung a lot of stuff up on hangers. lol. Maybe freecycle has got one.

Sorry about your ice and cold! We have mid-70s here in Central Florida today (sheepish smile!).

As much as I would love having a new washer/dryer set - those great looking front loaders - I sure hope our nearly 20-year olds keep on keepin' on!! We've been very lucky - Sears makes the best appliances.

You are so right to not let things steal your joy!! Joy is my "word for 2009" and I want to find it in everything, everyday.

Hugs! Hope you get your tree cutting - that's a wonderful tradition.

We're having a nice frost and cold here but no ice - that's so nice!

I hope you'll get rid of the ice though, as it can be very dangerous. It made me smile when I was looking at the headline of the sleepyhouse... so is it good to have a true sleepy corner sometimes when you can forget everything and just have a moment of peace. Have a good day!

Hope your ice goes away soon. Sorry to hear about your dryer. Ours went a few years ago in the winter too. I had wet clothes hanging on hangers all over in the house. lol We ended up buying a new one. Stay safe!
