We spent Friday watching the snow fall and digging out. After lugging 4 loads of wet clothes to the laundry mat to dry, I decided we are paying to have the dryer fixed or buying a new one. Our mom and pop appliance store here in town will agree to take off the cost of the service charge if I decide to buy a new one after I learn what the cost of repairs will be. (I'm waiting for the repair guy this morning.)
Saturday morning after moving more snow out of the way, we headed to town to shop around dryers and computers. We enjoyed lunch at Noodles, but couldn't find the new computer DH was looking for. I decided I really don't like sales people in the slightest. I know what kind of dryer we need, just give me your best price. Sales people always come across as liars and a waste of time to me. I couldn't help but also notice they left DH alone to look at PCs while I was hounded in the appliance section. Was it because I was a woman?
Sunday we cleaned half of our basement, totally motivated by the fact a repairman was coming! We hauled out a giant bag of garbage and bag after bag of recyclables. Now I'm thinking why was I living with all of this garbage? Its been a great kick start, and I hope we can keep the ball rolling. We have lots to purge and organize!
We took the boys to the sledding hill in our town. It wasn't too crowded. (We're used to having it to ourselves during school hours.) We all went down multiple times, but of course on DH's last run, he injured himself. He hit not one, but two jumps built into the hill. Unfortunately under the 6 inches of fresh snow was a solid sheet of ice. DH said he felt like he compacted his vertebrae. My only injury at the time was several white washes to the face. Later that night though, I could feel my leg muscles ache. It was quite difficult to walk up the hill with the ice underneath the snow.
The boys want to go back today, but I think its getting too cold. We are suppose to dip down to -20 F wind chills. Its going to be brutal like this all week. Lucky I found the window plastic kit in the basement while cleaning up! I don't know if that trick really works, but its simple to install so I'm trying it.
I suppose we'll stay inside this week and dream of spring.

Sledding sounds like fun. Not the getting hurt part. (Hope DH heals fast.) We don't have any hills here to sled on. Hope your dryer repair is cheap. Stay safe + warm!
We hardly get snow - long enough to sled lol
Most likely!
I'm with you - they are working on commission, but they shouldn't lie and exaggerate to make a sale. What has happened to ethics in this country?!!!
You are right - too cold for more sledding. Hope all the injuries and strains will be better soon!
I always hated dragging clothes to and fro ... I know how you were feeling.
I hate sales people too. Grr !
Hey, Sunday we cleaned up our basement some as well.
I often ask my kids if they wanna goout in the snow maybe sled and what not, but they just give me vacant looks. LOL. They are like me and just don't like all this northern stuff.
Hope that you have a great Monday ! :o)
Your weekend sounds like a good fun - even if it included cleaning. But cleaning can be fun too when it's done in a group. I always couraged my little sisters to clean; three people can do a lot more and a lot quicker than just one. I found them getting amazed many times because I was so right each time.
l get the cleaning out, organizing, tossing and donating thing. That's and putting cabinets together (for much needed storage) is all l've done since Friday. Can't believe the "stuff" l've accumulated and don't use.
My answer to sales people is "l'll let you know if l find what l want or have a question". That usually works.
Hope DH's back is ok.
I've been doing the same things...laundry, cleaning and purging....I have a HUGE pile to take to a thrift store later today. : ) My DH *finally* got our dryer in....we've been married 15 years in March and haven't had one since we got married. I am SO thankful not to be lugging laundry around to dry it! (I'm yelling "Woo-Hoo!!!" every time I change a load out. lol)
We just replaced our dryer. They must have taken the service call off, because I never did receive a bill for it. The quoted us $150-200 *if* they didn't find anything else wrong once they got inside. Frankly, with the thing being 10 years old, we decided just to buy a new one. Now I just have to get it paid off so I can replace the washer. Ugh.
