I didn't discover any pickles, but I did find a jar of Nutella from 2005. How was this still in my pantry? I know I have cleaned the pantry since 2005. It must have survived previous pantry purges because it has chocolate in it. I'm over that. If I'm going to have chocolate now, it has to be good chocolate.
I was really disgusted I filled an entire garbage bag with stale crackers and cereal, half eaten bags of snacks, and forgotten science project potatoes. As a family, we must stop wasting so much food. We're not saving money buying in bulk when we toss much of it.
I tried to place the not so healthy food up high. I attempted to leave space so food can be shifted around to see what's hiding behind. This hopefully will stop new bottles being opened before old bottles are used up.
The over the door shoe holder doesn't look tidy, but its doing a good job of holding all the little stuff that could get lost, like seasoning packets. Hanging behind it are thermal shopping bags and my aprons.
I'm using a plastic shoe box for all of my tea bags. It was insane how much tea I found I didn't know I had!
Tea doesn't expire right? I suppose it could loose potency over time. Maybe I'll have to mix and come up with new, crazy brews.

I like your idea of the over the door shoe holder, thats a great idea.
Your pantry looks very tidy now. I never would have thought of the over door shoe holder. What a neat idea!
The shoe holder is a great idea! My pantry has bi-fold doors, so it won't work for me - fiddle stix!
I cleaned out our pantry just before Thanksgiving, and found things expired - and three bottles of things I didn't know I still had. It feels good to get a project like that done! Congrats!
I do love the idea of the shoe holder ! I don't have a pantry, I wish I did though, even though most of the time I haven't much money to fill it. lol. I only have a cupboard, but being a clean freak, I clean it out evrey time I shop.
I had cleaned out my mothers cupboard once, she had spices in there from the 1960's. I was scared !
I think we are all guilty of this. The shoe holder is a clever idea.
The pantry looks great. I like the shoe holder idea as well. I love the shoe box idea too. I use them as well to organize just about any closet or cupboard. They come in all sizes. I even have them in my medicine cabinet.
I think everyone agrees....the shoe holder idea is GREAT! ; ) I wish I had a pantry...maybe next house... : )
The spice drawer!! I must put that on the list!! I keep most of our spices in a drawer directly next to the stove. I probably do have really old ones in there.
Shoe Holder, great idea!!!!!!! I use alot of plastic shoe boxes and other container to store things in to keep them fresh, and to keep things out. Here where I live we have a problem with ants. All over the 4 state area is nothing but a huge ant hill. My thoughts, LOL! So have had to come up with ways to protect food. LIke I use the empty animal crackers container that Sam's Club sells to store my sugar, flour, cornmeal, oatmeal, etc...
I have some cloves I borrowed from my Grandmother once upon a time...which is rather scary to think of, because she died in 1996. : P I may clean out my spices and make a list of new ones I need. : )
I like the idea of the shoe holder! I don't have a door to hang one on for my pantry area, but if I did, I'd being stealing that idea!!! :-)
