Thursday 13

My first "Purge", Thursday 13! I know its mostly clothes. Actually I have a huge bag of clothes, more than 13 items, but the object of this blog post is to make sure every Thursday, I'm purging at least 13 things from my cluttered home.

1. Light fleece yellow blankie

2. My spare pair of eyeglasses

3. My spare, spare pair of eyeglasses
(Now I'll have to buy new glasses since I won't have any spare pairs left! The ones on my head right now are so outdated, they need to become the spare, and I need to update my look.)

4. Lands End Swim trunks- made it through 2 boys and they still are in great shape!

5. A pair of navy pants

6. orange t-shirt

7. pair of shorts my children never wore

8. black t-shirt

9. gray polo shirt

10. burgundy shirt

11. Lands End polar fleece pullover- again this went through 2 boys and its like brand new. I hate getting rid of it, but the fact is it doesn't fit anyone living in my house!

12. Baby gate - My baby is 9. I don't think I need a baby gate anymore!

13. Cereal container - This is one of my moron purchases. Cereal already comes in bags & boxes. Why did I think keeping it in a "space saving" container was a good idea?

LOL about the cereal container! LOL

Congrats on the purge! It feels good to see things leave the house. Really good! I told hubby the other day I was going to go through his chest of drawers and get rid of tshirts he never wears. I am sure I could clear out two drawers of stuff.........*shaking head* lol

Great idea. I need to purge!! I did drop off about 5 boxes of stuff at the Goodwill store last week! I love that store! It is great that the take donations right there. I use to drop stuff off at the Cancer Federation "truck" that is always in the parking lot by the grocery store, but the whole area always smells like urine and it grossed me out! (probably because the guy who "works" there has no bathroom! YUCK!)

EW..........I can just imagine the odor there maija2.

I started cleaning out the kids clothes too and I have 2 bags for goodwill. Katie gets so upset when her clothes don't fit no more so I went through stuff while she was out bicycle riding. I figured there is no use hanging onto clothes that don't fit. I also have to go through my basement, I know I can purge some more down there

I have to get rid of some things when my daughter isn't around too. So, I know what you mean. :)
I go through her clothing seasonly, so they don't accumulate much. I have gone through her fall/winter clothing and set it aside. Now I have to look at clothes in the closet that she won't be able to wear next season.

A few months ago we took a few bags of clothes to Thrift Store. There are always things around the house to get rid of. I try to do it at least twice a year. Good for you for doing it every week. Cereal container made me laugh too. lol

lol, l have two of those cereal containers and surprise, no cereal is in them. While cleaning out closets l found a bunch of puzzles The hospital thrift shop nearby will take them but not til the 25th so they are sitting on the floor waiting to get into the car. A bag of clothes for Purple Heart too. I was busy.

Hey do you have a freecycle where you live? It's really cool, go to freecycle.com to find out. I've traded and gotten tons of cool stuff there, if you're just going to give it away anyway that is...happy purging :-)

What a good idea for Thursday 13!

I'd hang onto the baby gate, though...what if you happened to get a small pet that needed to be kept in one room? lol That's my pack-rat genes showing through...

LOL about the spare eye glasses...I have three or four pairs waiting until I go to one of those (Lens-Crafters, is it?) places that recycles them.

The baby gate was a soft, net, mesh style with a tension rod. I'm sure any future puppies would claw through it and kittens would be able to climb it easy. My new mentality is... If I need a baby gate in the future, I know how to get another one.

I'm also asking myself lately, If I don't help out others with their needs, how would I feel asking God to help me with mine? I'm focusing on how casting off my clutter will bring benefit and blessings to others who need it.

Good focusing technique. :)

Sounds like your making progress... I use those containers to put a batch of soup in after I cook it. But you right as to it original use. That idea only give you another item to wash.
