They brought us a Knifty Knitter, and I cranked out a new knit cap. It came together rather quickly and now I'm hooked- no pun intended!
We had beautiful weather, and I'm sorry to report I have my first sunburn of the season. I always forget to use sunscreen until after a painful reminder! Its mostly on my forearms so I have this wonderful trucker sunburn look going.
I'm bummed because I was going to wear my shiny shirt for our date night tonight. We're going to see Joe Jackson- (still crossing my fingers tickets will be at will call.) If I wear this blouse, you'll see my burn lines against my bone white skin. Not very sexy for date night. Hmmm...I wonder what coverup would look like on my arms? Or should I try blush on my upper arms to make them look pink to match? I should just pick another top, I know.
I have a new mission to research Gooseberry bushes and plant one after summer. My mom shared some Gooseberry jam she had, and now I'm craving it. I think Gooseberry Jam is more of a European thing. I know you can buy it in Sweden,
and the jar my mom had was from Poland. My mom wants to grow her own bushes and make her own jam. I'll have to copy this idea!
Well, its time to start baking corn bread. We have more company coming in today, DMIL. I'm going to have black bean soup ready and corn bread goes perfect with it. Hope you have a great Monday!

Sounds like DarkSide Dawn has left the building! :) I'm glad you enjoyed your weekend. Jennifer (homeschooling Jen) has a knitter thing too. I had one as a kid and loved it. I'm sure I made some hats here and there. LOL I had actually forgotten I had one. :)
Sorry about that sunburn...........be careful! :) I hope your tickets are at 'will call' and that you have a fantastic time! :)
I have never heard of gooseberries.........I make plum jelly. That's our favorite although muscadine is a closed second.
The blackbean soup and cornbread sounds great! MMMMmm In the south, we eat pinto beans or purple hull peas with cornbread. Deeeeeeeeeeeelicious. :)
I hope that you're parents make it home okay and that the medical issues are quickly resolved! :)
Your new hat looks great. We got our 1st sunburns this weekend too. Not bad just a little pink. I've heard of gooseberries but don't think I've ever had any. I made cornbread this morning. Not from scratch but a mix. My DS loves it. Hope you get your concert tickets. Have a great time!
Hope mom or dad's medical thing is ok. Hope you get into the concert. I only remember "Steppin' Out" by him. Remember I really liked it. Enjoy your company, soup, and corn bread.
Hey, I got my first sunburn, too! Great pic--hope all is well healthwise.
Thats great that your parents came down and great picture. I also got my first sunburn of the season last Monday, and its still itching really bad ..
Gooseberry, hmm, never heard of that, but sounds good
have fun on your date night.. take care
All week last week vacationing and not one bit of a sunburn for me. Actually, I think that's kind of sad.
