Have you written a book?

Everyone in their lifetime should at the very least, write one book. Don't you think? Even if no one reads it. Just write it for yourself.

I mentioned this to my boys, since one of them is into writing recently, and they asked me what books I had written. I've written many letters, blogs, term papers, reports, procedures, lists and cards, but I can't say I've really written a book. Maybe when I was a young child I wrote something that my teacher would have asked me to color pictures for and then call a book, but I've never really written a real book.

One of my children then mentioned how difficult it was to get a book published. (He's worried no one will read his book, "The Zone.")

I think it doesn't matter if your book gets published. I think just working through the process of writing and finishing it, is worth it alone. Maybe only your family will read it, but it will still be out there, in written form. As they say, "Don't die with your story still in you."

I think this is going to be my next thing I'm into. I'm going to start writing a book. I have no idea what kind. I tend to read non-fiction, but I have this rich fantasy life in my head! LOL!!

I'm bummed my Multiply page is not working the way I want it too. I really hope this is temporary. I seem to be able to post a blog entry but not insert photos, links, change the font etc. I've just tried to edit the post and to my horror, its all one giant paragraph. BLAH!!!!! I hope this gets fixed!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so excited you're going to write a book! 'Cause guess what? I'm trying to accomplish this goal too! I love the process but the whole idea of some one else reading it freaks me out. Anyway, so far I'v got nearly 2 chapters and it's been a blast just trying. So, I think I'm going to keep going. I'll cheer you on if you cheer me on! :)

If l wrote a book, it would have to have a lot of interesting pictures. I am the world worse when it comes to writing. I don't even do letters as the person would be asleep after the first paragraph.

That's a good idea. Write simply for the joy of it. :-) Good luck! I've started several but never finished one.

I have written alot of poetry and I guess with it all compiled it would make a good book. LOL I helped Alex (my daughter) put together her first short stories which will actually be part of a seried of short stories which will be composed into a book form. It may never be published, but her family will see it and she'll have a copy for herself. :)

I wrote something back in 4th grade and almost was on the path to try to publish it too. I was researching publishers in college. It is still in edited mode.

it came about because of an event that happened and I won too for the class project. lol

Good Luck with the writing, My son is writing a story, I help him and we did have 2 chapters complete but than after reading it he decided he needed more detail in it and wanted to change a few things so we are starting again. He has such an imagination and his stories always involve the fantasy world, typical for Aspie's. But I want to write his stories down even if he doesn't think they are great as a part of our family history.

Good luck on your book. I keep saying that someday I will write one too. Actually, I used to write a fair bit of poetry (back when I was an angsty teenager), and I have written a few short stories that will probably never see the light of day, but at least I did it.
