Another reason to find a new line of work...

The boss is planning a Swim-A-Thon and she's asked me to participate. I'll need to ask for pledges for every lap I can swim in 15 minutes. Grrrrr.....

A part of me says quit whining and start training. My mother once swam across a lake. I've got to have the DNA to pull this off.

Another part of me is freaking out. I already have issues with germs. Have you ever seen a pool's backwash system?

Plus the idea of swimming while people watch- not for me! They will understand why I work in administration and not the water!

However, it is for charity and the swimming would do my body good. I haven't really made up my mind yet. Maybe once I can put my fears behind me I'll dive in and go for it.

Um, I'm thinking they'd pay me to not wear a swimsuit and keep my regular clothes on. Heck, I lose my breath just getting into that thing-maybe that's why it claims to make you look 10 pounds smaller?

Did she ask you to like you have a choice was the "asking" just a formality and she really is requiring you to do it?

I would never make it especailly when you are being watched even if it is for charity. Don't be pressured though into something you don't want to do

That does sound scary. Good luck with the decision! We'll cheer you on if you do it!

Ummm, NO!! I haven't seen a pool's backwash system and it sounds scary. You are giving me Second Thoughts. What don't I know??? Summer's comin' and I may be The Air Conditioned Princess!! What is lurking in there?

Maija- You're right. She asked me but I can tell its more of an expectation.

Backwash- I should take a picture one day. My brother knows what I'm talking about. You would be shocked to see what ends up in a pool filter. Swimming pools are basically chemical baths. You need them this way though or you'd be in danger of getting all kinds of nasties that come out of people's dark places!

I have a thing about hair too. It grosses me out to find it in places other than people's heads. Do you willingly step on it when you see it on the locker room floor? No? Guess what. You may have just swam through it!

Also- its a fact. People pee in pools. Also any dirt, sweat, oil, unwiped matter will come off a swimming person and mingle into the pool water.

Trust me, ask anyone who's tested the chemical levels after a night of kids' swim lessons.

I don't even want to think about what is in backwash systems. YUCK! Well, if you decide to do it, remember it is for charity. :-)
