Fridays Are Fresh Days...4/2/10

Random Friday Notes....

I can't believe its Good Friday already. I'm looking forward to Easter because I need to renew my spirit. I need a fresh start. Unemployment stress has kept this dark cloud over everything, and I'm tired of it. I'm ready for the sun to shine again in our world, and Easter will remind me of another Son who is always shining for us.

Easter also means our extended family with gather and that will lift me up. Sunday we'll be feasting in K-town and next weekend my side hopefully will repeat the experience.

I turned up our Square Foot Garden and she's ready for planting. I'm going to gamble and try some lettuces. We have makeshift cloches, so perhaps we'll get some leafy greens despite the rabbits and the threat of frost. If it doesn't work out, oh well. We'll sow again into the ground in May.

We're hoping to build a few more raised beds. We have to or all these seedlings we've started will have no where to go come May.

The big purge is on. Today we donated our 1993 Saturn SL. It had sat in our garage for over 5 years. It needed work and we ended up buying our Grandpa's Cavalier instead. I don't know why we just parked the Saturn in the garage and didn't try to get rid of it sooner. Maybe because it was our first car we bought together, as a newly married couple. We actually bought that car instead of taking a honeymoon.

Now that its gone, it feels great! We can clean up the garage and better utilize the space.

We finished season 2 of Dexter. BRILLIANT!!! Can't wait for season 3 to arrive from Netflix this Monday.

No jury duty next week! Boo Yah!! I have to call again next Tuesday to see if I'm wanted the following week.

I'm thinking of checking out a "free" weight loss group starting at our library. I want it to be a group of local people interested in supporting each other, but I'm skeptical. I hope it isn't someone trying to pitch a product. I can't afford Weight Watchers but the accountability of a bi-weekly group would be good for me. Online groups haven't worked for me.

We have an arrangement with the boys. If we go to a rock concert, they get to have a sleep over. Since DH & I saw STP last weekend, we're picking up pizzas and the man cave will turn into video game central tonight. All will go well unless we lose power!

It's Dandy Blend Chocolate Almond Frappuccino time. I blend together almond milk, Dandy Blend herbal coffee substitute, chocolate syrup and ice to make a healthier version of a Mocha Frap- No fat, no dairy, 130 calories of perfection!

Dawn I think you sound like you're on the right track. You definitely need a lift right now and I hope the cleaning and planting do that for you :)

Garden season is right around the corner it seems, we picked up seeds to start some plants inside also. Our landlord just asked where we want him to till the garden, I thought he was using a garden tiller but he is going to use his tractor. I wonder how big he is thinking of making it.

Sounds like the boys are going to have alot of fun

Wishing you and your family a Wonderful Easter

Sounds like Easter is just what you need to lift your spirits. Glad to hear you got rid of the car, it was only taking up good space. Good luck with the weight loss group, can't hurt to try. Have a wonderful weekend Dawn and happy Easter to you and the family.

That was a nice bunch of news to read; always good to hear from a friend.

Your mentioning how it's already Good Friday (even if I'm writing this on the sixth) made me think of how differently we call that day in Finnish... literally translated it's "Long Friday". Somehow the word "good" there always makes me think, as the word itself refers to something positive and the day was a sad day in the history.
