Don't take this the wrong way, I have some foods I could stand to ditch also (like especially coffee, lol)... but... that diet cola needs to go... complete garbage for your body, regardless of the sugar content or not. Just because it is diet, it's no better for you, and actually causes weight gain and health problems. I have issues with the stuff because I know people that swear by it while dieting. :o( Just my 2 cents. :o)

What a neat idea! I think it's great and if others are seeing pics of what you're eating, it sure makes you want to keep the portions down in size huh? Good job!!

Oh... and... send me some of those chocolates please, LoL...!

It does make you think before you eat if you gotta take a pic of it first. lol I'm still doing my pic food blog but I'm gonna keep it at sparkpeople.com.

I know. I'm not perfect. I do try to limit diet soda, but lately, I'm getting over this chest cold thing and the carbonation feels good. :) I once gave up diet coke for several months. I can go quite a long time without it but then when I have one, its like, "Ooohhh! This is good!!!" There are certain foods I eat that make me crave diet coke too, like pizza.

Feel free to criticize. I knew posting publicly would bring it, but I welcome all healthy suggestions. I've been slowly making changes to my diet and trying to do a balanced approach so I don't feel deprived.

have you tried sparkling water with natural flavors type things I like those over say 7 up which is loaded with more sugar. I try to get those when we shop for a treat instead of the corn syrup stuff

I am gonna try some root beer flavored stevia in some sparkling water. I hear it's delicious and very much like root beer!

Healthiest suggestion I can give is vegetarian/raw/organic. ; ) My husband has gone about 90% vegetarian, 50% raw and 70% organic and has lost about 70 lbs and maintained it for over a year. One of the biggest things was losing the HFCS...in all it's many names...The whole family is eating better and lots healthier.

I love you, though, and don't want to criticize. : ) Please don't take this like that! Just suggestions/what's worked here. : )

We really like stevia and use it for most of our sweetening now. It is controversial to some, but I believe it to be a "natural" sweetener.

anything NATURAL usually is :(

My whole family is pretty 'fit' naturally. People often comment that my kids are so skinny, blah, blah blah. My 13 year old girl wears size 14 clothes. Isn't that NORMAL? Not too skinny? It's because most 13 year old girls wear women's clothing these days. We eat pretty healthy on a daily basis, and are all in good health, so how can they criticize that? We decided a few years back that we would just spend the money for the most 'natural' stuff with the choices available on the shelf. WE still have our 'junk', but our day is not made up of that. It's little things, but I believe it helps. Some examples are we buy unbleached flour, unprocessed sugar, juice with no sugar added (not the ones with other sweeteners added, these SAY 'no sugar added', 100% natural cereals and oatmeal over the 1000's of junk cereal choices on the shelf (sometimes my 6yo gets her way with some Cocoa Puffs, Honey Comb, etc LoL), lot's of Stonyfield products, all natural peanut butter, most of our vegetables we buy the organic (when we don't have our own from the garden), and we usually eat all of our vegetables raw (except corn and potatoes, stuff like that.) The stuff is harder to find when we shop, but it's there. The way we judge a lot of stuff quickly is by the amount of ingredients listed on the package. Once it gets over 4 or 5 ingredients, it's probably good for nothing but filling your stomach... anyWAY, sorry to ramble. I love talking about health & foods! It encourages me, and keeps me on my toes and thinking about my purchases when in the store... so thanks for posting and it looks like you are doing great. Oh, and my kids love Nutella, and I love yogurt with blueberries and granola. :o)

sixhotpeppers, we do most of what you are doing as well. Feels really good to eat that way. My kids are even checking out labels when we go to the store now and it's funny when they find one with a lot of ingredients and say oh well that's no good and then put it back! I stand back, smile and say YES!!! :)

Same here! My older kids are always checking things out like that too. Another funny thing is that they check to make sure the products are NOT made in China or other foreign countries, especially any seafood or frozen products. When I tell people these things, they act like it's too much trouble to worry with, but you get to "know" the products at the store and it's easy to weed out the bad stuff. Just saw a video today that confirms my dislike towards imported foods, hope everyone will check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0F8x4i5GYE&feature=related
