I'm out of my regular blogging routine and don't know where to begin. Lots has happened, but I don't have the writing talent to bring it all together cohesively in a nice little blog entry. So here's my ramble. Take it or leave it.
We're all sore. Thank you Wii Fit. I'm also addicted. Dare I say its more fun than blogging? BLASPHEMY! Don't worry. I'll grow weary and be back blogging soon.
The boss asked me last night if I'd give her a head's up if I choose to leave work due to gas prices. I assured her I would. She mentioned she may give me new responsiblities which I could perhaps work on from home, and she said she'd compensate me. I hope this is true and it works out. Its getting very close to not paying for me to drive to work.
We finally got our sunflower seeds for the great sunflower project. We have them planted in a sunny spot and we're watering daily. So far, no sign of sprouting plants.
Did you know Niagara Falls is moving upstream? I hadn't realized water falls do this. We came across a great show yesterday on the science channel about it. The water is of course washing away the rock and moving the falls back. I've always wanted to visit Niagara Falls and now I'm really itching to go. I want to explore downstream the valleys where the falls used to be thousands of years ago. You can discover huge chunks of rock that broke off and find evidence of aquatic life on the forest floor.
DS9 has been busy with Ape Escape once again. He's now designing his own game manual, mapping out levels. He's been using my camera to take screen shots. He wants me to help him print them out for his game guide book. I wish I knew how to hook up the computer to the game. The screen shots would look much better. You see there is no cheat guide for the version he's playing so he's decided to write his own. He wants Nintendo to buy it. Now I know this won't happen, but he's learning through this process. Its not about making it to the end goal. I'm sure at one point, he'll realize Nintendo won't buy his book, but that itself is a life lesson. What can I do differently next time? I'm not about to squash his drive by telling him, "No one will buy your book."
DS12 is excited he's been invited to a laser tag birthday party. I'm excited he's mixing it up with new friends.
The Posse Rats are now an endangered species. I had banned them from the basement boycave after the eldest rat turned on our cable and had everyone watching an inappropriate horror movie. They played outside for awhile but now its dropping off. DS12 told me they are acting obnoxious.
"How so?"
"They are always talking about sex."
"Um.... What do you mean?" -trying to maintain a calm voice.
"They say stupid stuff like, 'Look at so and so, he's got a boner!' and they just try to act cool. They aren't being themselves anymore."
I'm a proud mom! I hope DS12 can continue to recognize the peer garbage that is starting to happen as we enter the middle school years.
As the calendar turns over to June, I'm more aware my big day is coming. I still don't know what I'll do to celebrate. I was going to dye my hair, but to be honest, these past few weeks I'm starting to like the gray. Now that there is more of it, it looks like highlights. The tattoo idea is out. The smoking my first joint idea is out. Skinny Dipping is probably out. No to sky diving, bungee jumping- anything having to do with heights. A day at the spa? Too typical. Break a law? I'm not that old yet. What does a nerd like me do to celebrate her 40th? I need suggestions people!
I have to get up now. I think Wii Fit is looking for me.
"Coming my darling!"
Have a great weekend!

Ah that Wii Fit must be really good. I wonder how long it will take us to get one?
Are the Posee Rats out of school yet? When that happens, hopefully they will continue to stay out of the boycave so you can keep your sanity!
Happy almost birthday. I have no idea what to tell you to do. My 40th came and went without much
notice, but do remember feeling like I should do SOMETHING too.
Oh, and rambling blogs are always fun, so no stress.
Summer is upon us once again and I hope you have good luck with the Posse rats. Happy Early Birthday, was 40 last year and it was just another day for me. Maybe do something special with the family or hubby??
Love your background, I love lilacs and always told my dh that if we had our own house I would need several lilac trees in our yard.
Great blog, not to worry.
My daughter got a tatoo on her 40th b'day. She was thrilled with it. I thought about it but chickened out.
Good for your son to recognize garbage talk. Also, don't know what a laser tag party is but hope he enjoys it..
Sorry to hear DS12 had to witness his friends' new behaviour. :( I'm happy that he noticed it wasn't appropriate and mentioned it to you. I was at the library today and saw a young boy (10 or so) looking at a website with a bunch of teen girls on it. He was sitting there with an older friend/brother and as I was walking by the young boy looked at me from the corner of his eye and moved the page up so I couldn't see what he seemed to KNOW he wasn't suppose to look at. It said something about top ten bootays or something. *rolling eyes* It wasn't an x-rated site, but the idea of 10-12 yr olds thinking about bootays is somewhat scary.I was going to mention it to the librarian, but I was thinking since it seemed to be a regular entertainment/magazine site that there wasn't much she could do. I will ask her about it next time I'm in there since I know them all.
About your birthday...........for my 40th we had a rollerskating party and it was SO fun. There were only a handful of us who skated, but when it came time to limbo, hokey pokey and a few other dances, more folks joined us on the floor. It was so fun! OR you could have a lasertag party! Woohoo!
I think it's neat DS9 is working on his manual. I agree......we don't want to squash their dreams. :) If they are using their mind/imagination and willing to work on things, let them do it! Alex likes to draw/tell/write stories. She works on short stories and one day she'll have a nice collection she can look back on :)
Glad you are enjoying Wii Fit. My DS9 hangs out with mostly 12 yr olds. Only boys near us to play with. Sometimes he comes home so mad at them cause he says they are acting like idiots. lol Can't help with your 40th bday. I'm sure you'll think of something cool to do. Have a great weekend!
Great post...I think the rambling types are the best.
I never thought about doing something rad for my 40th. Hm...that's something to think about. If I think of anything for yours, I'll let you know! Anyway, have a Happy Birthday!
Ah..the 40th...Well, I watch whatever movies I wanted to watch and read a book UNINTERRUPTED by the calls of "Mommy!! Mommy!!!"
I think it was the last time I have had such luxury afforded to me and that was January 2001.
'sigh'
(and I feel your blogwriting pain too :-D I have had the same issue for months )
