I want to be a farm girl.

We went to visit new homeschooling friends who own and run a beautiful sheep farm. The lambs are so cute!!

I'm in complete homeschooling mom envy. They bought a run down dairy farm 6 years ago and transformed it into a eco-friendly sheep farm. The farm produces wools without chemicals. The two oldest children built a hydroponic garden complete with Tilapia fish! The worm bin ensures all organic matter is made into wonderful compost and an old chicken coop has become a homeschooling paradise complete with a library!

We also got to meet Daisy Mae, an adorable Pot Bellied Pig. She's potty trained so she's allowed inside the house where she sleeps on floor pillows. If you pet her, she eventually rolls over for you to scratch her belly. She's too cute!!

It was depressing having to leave and go back to my sub-division ranch style house. I can't wait to go back to the farm to visit again. http://www.baabaashop.com/

I would also love to live on a farm of some sort and have a huge garden. One can only dream.

That is very cool! My boss for her retirement wants to buy a farm and make it into an educational, family B&B. She grew up on a farm and hates that kids don't get that type of exposure any more.

Too bad they keep paving over our farmland with supercenters and costco's, not that I don't like costco :-)

Maija- When I win the lotto, I'm buying a farm. I'll grow Christmas trees, an apple orchard, pumpkin patch and now I'm adding sheep to the mix. I'll buy enough land that we can all build houses!

You're not the only one having farm envy. My middle son has a friend who lives on a hobby farm and raises hens that lay brown eggs. I blogged about it quite a while back. At least he gets to go play there often. *sigh* Someday ... *makes mental note to buy lottery ticket*
