Tick Removal Tip- I've recently read if you goop up a cotton ball with lots of liquid soap, hold the soap saturated cotton ball over the attached tick for 20 seconds, it will cause the tick to let go, making for easier tick removal. Could someone try this and let me know if it works? It sounds too good to be true.

I believe it would work. The amount of things I've heard that liquid soaps works on is amazing, who knew.
I've heard the same for petroleum jelly. I think anything that shuts off the air supply will potentially make them let go and back out. Good luck. It's been years since I had to deal with ticks (had a collie back in the 80s, when I lived in Maryland... he got them all the time!).
I think anything thick that will cut off the air supply will work.....I am sure we'll have a tick on us and I'll try the soap

Gosh my grandparents always had a cigarette in their hand and so I got the "lit cig way too close to my skin, don't you dare move or scream, tick removal remedy". LOL
I have tried it all and the only way I can get a tick off me is grab the tweezers and pull that sucker out.
wives tale.....tweezers and kill the bugger by putting it in alcohol after removal. Hate ticks.
I just flush them down the drain with hot water running to make sure they die.
I totally forgot about this until a few minutes ago. When Al had ticks on her after a camping trip, I remember putting something on a q-tip and rubbing it on the tick. Alex wasn't letting me pull 'em off and she was freaking out. Anyhoo, after a bit, it came off much easier. She was in the tub, so I'm not sure if it was the bath water or the combo of the water and the q-tip stuff, but it did make it easier to remove it. Now, if I could remember what I used that night. It was most likely vaseline or something.
Usually, when I find a tick on me, I simply pull it off. After moving south, I always heard of lighting a match, blowing it out and putting it on the tick to make it release.
Or LIT cigarettes!! Ugh. Yes I'm still emotionally scarred. LOL thankfully never burned, but none the less scarred. :)
