My cookie cottage...

My Facebook friends are a bad influence. One of them has decided to bake a different cookie everyday for the next 100 days. I love this idea, but the reality is, I don't think I could keep up that pace, even giving away all those cookies. I've decided to try one new batch a week.

Yesterday I tweaked a sugar cookie recipe. I wasn't that impressed but DH really seems to love them. I thought they spread out too much, but that's what using butter will do. I'm not a fan of shortening or margarine.

Another FB friend mentioned she was stopping at the "Cookie Cottage." I loved the sound of that. I Googled and discovered its a cookie company, selling really expensive cookies. How much would you spend on a chocolate chip cookie?

I had the thought I would love to have a little cookie shop, in our cute little historical village, but the reality is, I can't see it being profitable. People in my town would not pay what the "Cookie Cottage" charges, and I'm guessing to keep a cookie shop in business, you would need to charge $2 a cookie.

I wish I could figure out what home business to start. I really want to show the boys how to be entrepreneurs, but I can't find a way to turn our passions into paychecks. We'll keep brainstorming.

I was in the cake business for quite a few years - the last four with my own little bakery. Food service is HARD WORK. I was never so happy to get out of it. I was successful, I was happy the first three years and miserable the last year. Found a great job and sold out! Try something that doesn't involve food!! LOL

That's some challenge to bake 100 different cookies. I only make a few kinds. Good for you for trying one a week:)

I would think the cookie store would be hard. Better choice might be making cookie trays. My sister did this out of her house for a while. People would place orders for the get togethers + she would make up trays for them. Don't know what headaches working out of your house would be with board of health + stuff.

I think baking is fun but when I'm in the process of keeping up my weight and losing the rest that is left I couldn't go for these Cookies Baking projects, even if your cookies look very delicious! :-)
