I've discovered our Christmas tree stand has sprung a leak. All this time I thought our tree was just really drinking up water. Turns out I've been dumping quarts of water into my carpet. A tree skirt is not necessarily a good thing. It hides this fact! We tried to fix it, but the best solution will be to buy a new stand. I'm hoping DH can lift out the tree with decorations and lights still on, and I'll help guide it into the new stand. My carpet is another problem.
We had a great time yesterday at our homeschool Christmas party. We skipped the gift exchange and made the fleece blankets you tie together. In addition to making the blankets to donate, we also made cards for the local nursing home. We also had fun playing Blokus and of course DS8's favorite, Apples to Apples. My gingerbread reindeer all flew away but I had fruit left. Imagine that?
DH told me this morning that one of the partners confessed to him after everyone had left, that he may be leaving the company. If he does this, we're not sure the primary partner will keep the company running. He may just decide to live off his wife's income and his retirement. This means DH really has to step up his job search. Please pray for him to find a new, secure job. This is a huge dark cloud looming over his head, and I know he's worried about providing for us.
Well, I better call my mom and wish her a Happy Lucia Day. I hope your day is filled with joy, and God's peace and blessings!

Sorry to hear about your tree leaking. Hopefully you can get the new stand in without any problems. Sounds like the homeschool party was fun. Reindeer cookies were adorable. Happy Lucia Day!
We've just been to Ikea hoping they might have Lucia singers there today, but no joy. We did enjoy some yummy Swedish cakes and good strong Swedish coffee though. Hälsningar to your mom from all of us!
What are these "fleece blankets you tie together"? I'm so curious! Sounds like you had a nice time at the party.
You've got my prayers about the job search for your hubby! Love the story and tradition of Lucia day :-)
Love the idea of cards for the nursing home. I'm going backwards on your post. (multiply really has my notifacations messed up - todays is the first I've gotten for a while). Glad you got the tree fixed. Hope husband finds something soon.
