It was really fun! I'm sure my neighbors thought we were nutty unschoolers once again, but do I care? NO!
The boys were really good about cleaning it up. A few seeds remain but those will disappear in a few days as the critters find them.
When we were finished, DS12 said he felt relaxed now that he had gotten out all that aggression. So I guess it was a stress release as well.
The boys figured out the pumpkins had froze a little so it was more difficult to break them. DS12 experimented with making cuts to see if that assisted in how they fell apart. They also found the moldy parts broke apart more easily.
Of course someone brought up, "What if this was your head?!" Yes, that's why we wear helmets!

Hahah...I saw your title come up when I was playing around with the settings on my front message board thingy. I neverrrrr thought about doing that to my pumpkins. How fun! I was boring and just threw mine away in the weekly trash yesterday. I'm soooo planning on making an event out of it next year!
Did it really make a huge mess? Was it hard to clean up? I'm boring too, in fact, I hurried and through mine away before someone could even dream about smashing them! Maybe next year!
And to think we just throw ours away. LOL Your way looks like lots more fun. Great title too.
Sounds like fun to me. Way to go!!
Looks like they had an awesome time smashing pumpkins.. Definitely looks like fun.
