I witnessed a horrific injury to a little boy's foot today. I held his hand waiting for the paramedics and couldn't believe how brave he was. If this had been my child, I would have passed out. I'm praying he's doing well in the ER and the memory of the pain fades for him.

Oh no, Dawn. What happened to him? Good for you, giving him comfort.
A gated door to an arena fell on his bare foot and although some of the skin was still attached, you could tell his big toe and the one next to it were severed from his foot. The skin and toenails were sliding off and I'm sure the bones were crushed. He ran towards me looking for his parents who were at the time giving a Halloween safety seminar. He must have had pure adrenaline flowing because he ran about 25 yards from where it had happened. I helped him lay down and as luck would have it a surgeon was also at the sports complex. The surgeon immediately attempted to stop the blood and when he removed the wrapping to check on it, he took one look at it and said the boy was going to need emergency surgery. The poor boy was screaming how he wanted to go home. I kept telling him to squeeze my hand as hard as he could and to breathe. I felt so badly for him!!
Oh, poor baby. Poor you! Thank goodness you were there for him! If you hear how he is doing, please give us an update. He'll be in my prayers.
Bless your heart Dawn for being there for him. I hope he will be okay, praying for him.
I agree with teelee123, thank goodness you were there for him. Praying.
Oh Dawn! How awful but I'm glad you were there! What a blessing that was!
Poor little guy!:o( I think it's great you were able to be with him. :o)
:(
I would've passed out and been no help at all. :( Good on ya, Dawn, for being there with a strong stomach. Hope the little guy gets through this trauma okay.
I will also say a prayer for this little boy, what a terrible accident. I am glad he found you and you were able to stay calm for him.
