Cheap, Easy, Window Cleaner

I'm never buying window cleaner again. I just reused the old spray bottle and added the following;

2 cups water
3 TBS white, distilled vinegar
1/2 tsp dish detergent (liquid)

It worked as good as store bought expensive stuff. I also used old newspapers to wipe my windows dry. Cheaper than paper towels, and no streaks!

My mom used to always use vinegar and water when cleaning the windows during spring cleaning along with the newspapers..........:) We also used newspapers to clean car windows. I have never used the vinegar/water mixture, but I should! Thanks for the recipe........I am guessing the dish liquid takes off any grimy substances, right?

Amazing what we can do for pennies!! Thanks for the tip about the dish detergent. I have never added soap before, and can see the advantage!

Yes, and I find this ratio doesn't create an overpowering vinegar smell. I know some use ammonia but that stinks too bad. Plus if you accidentally mix ammonia with cleaners containing bleach, watch out!

I'll have to try this. Never used newspaper either. I just use old Tshirt rags.

I use regular dish detergent too. First I rub the windows through with a soapy rag and then I spray the window cleaner detergent and use the squeegee to clean the windows. It's the best way in that way.
