Can't figure this one out. DS13 has had a sore throat for almost 2 weeks. Thought it was allergies but Claritan doesn't seem to be making any difference. This morning he woke up with stomach pain, but it quickly went away and he's been eating normal all day. Tonight DS10 says his throat is sore, but more so his ears are bothering him. Maybe we do have a virus in the Sleepyhouse? Do I pay the $70 insurance co-pay only to have the doctor confirm this or could it be something treatable? Doesn't it seem unfair doctors charge you even when there is nothing they can do for you?

Yes, it does seem to be unreasonable. Is it half that for one person? Get it confirmed with DS13 - then you'll know what to do for DS10. Two weeks is a long time, but colds hang on longer these days. Hugs to you and the boys.
Allergies in our house also, the only thing that works for us is Zyrtec. It use to be by prescription but now you can buy it over the counter. Ears and throat problems can be allergies but 2 wks is long. I would check in to the doctor also, just to be safe that it isn't something more serious
Have you tried any other allergy medicine? YIkes on the co-pay. What ever happened with your health ins? Did you get DH's employer to keep the coverage you had?
If it's a viral thing, it'll have to run it's course. Hmmmm...........If you aren't seeing improvement with DS13, I'd go ahead and take him to the doctor. If he does prescribe an antibiotic he may go ahead and write an RX for DS 10:o)
Hope they both heal quickly!
