After hearing that hacking kid, walking to the bus stop, I'm SO grateful my boys home school! I can't believe he is being sent to school like that. It was a brutal, wet, cough. At one point, the boy stopped, and bent over. I thought he was going to spew in my front yard!

It's all about the parents I think...and the lack of concern for the kid and his classmates being exposed.
I'd keep mine home and call in for homework/classwork. That is if I'd get an answer back from his teacher. My son gets his birthday off too.
Another reason we homeschool.
I know! It wasn't like this kid wasn't old enough to stay home alone either, so they can't use the "I have to work, " excuse. I'm sure its the pressure to not miss school. They only allow so many absences, and then they begin to penalize your children for missing class. In this day and age, I don't understand why schools don't embrace technology more, sending home assignments via email. I know it comes down to money. Schools receive funding based on the number of students in attendance.
What a shame - for the child AND all the others around him. :-(
:( that isn't very cool. That's how this stupid flu thing is being passed so easily. Well and other illnesses too. When someone in our family is sick, we don't go anywhere!!
That and many schools today award them with MONEY/GIFTS
