I can't stick my tongue out at Charter. Its my computer that is broken. I'm on DS12's now which is even older than mine. Its a SWAP find we picked up for $20. I can't check my emails, but hey I got throught to Multiply so its not all bad!!
DH is going to take a piece out of our even older computer, which isn't running, and see if he can Frankenstein the piece into my computer so I can access the internet again. I think its amazing he can figure this out, but he doesn't think so. He's still brainwashed into the "I didn't go to school for this," mentality. He doesn't give himself credit for how much he has learned on his own, unschooling style. Where he works there is no IT staff, so he's had to fit the bill. He's really a design engineer, but he's learned so much about computer hardware hands on over the years. He thinks its no big deal he can open up the CPU and do stuff. I know this is how you learn new things. Just rip it apart and go for it!! :)
Why do people buy into the notion that you can't learn anything on your own? Why does it take a school or piece of paper to validate your knowledge base? We need to wake up. You shouldn't have to go thousands of dollars in debt with school loans to make your dreams come true. Autodidacts rise up!
DS9 lost a tooth last night! Yesterday he was terrorizing me with it. He would wiggle it and you could hear it click. It was really grossing me out. He wanted to do the string thing. (He has no fear of pain.) I told him to just keep munching on apples and carrot sticks. The tooth fairy left him a $2 bill. It quickly went into this wallet.
I'm doing more house cleaning today. My MIL is coming Thursday to stay with the boys while DH and I drive to Green Bay.
I had a 40% off coupon for the half priced book store. I stopped in and found Chasing Vermeer in hardback and two sets of journals that also came with sketch books. Now we can start writing notes back and forth with the boys, and we can have fun drawing back and forth too.
I better get moving. Its strange, I have no options to change the font or load pictures or anything. It must be this old version of Explorer on DS12's computer. Maybe I should try to upgrade software today for him. (Okay, okay, for me. How can I not check email?!)

Wow, it didn't recognize my paragraphs either! I must spend some time upgrading DS12's computer. No wonder he's always on mine.
Well at least you won't have computer withdrawl altogether.
I just finished upgrading DS12's computer with a newer version of Firefox. It seems to be working and I have email again yeah!!!
Sorry to hear your computer is broken. Glad you could get online. I go through withdrawal when I can't. Hope you get yours fixed soon.
I couldn't live without e-mail!!!!
I'm glad FF is working for you. :) It's amazing the addiction that we tend to have to the internet. I am SO lost without it.
I know what you mean about knowledge in life vs knowledge with a degree. My husband and I are self taught in different areas of computers. What one can't do, the other usually can. If we don't know it right now, we'll figure it out. :)
Your family sounds like a hoot. I chuckled at your son freaking you out with his tooth. LOL
My hubby is a design engineer as well. He has always built our computers, upgraded them, etc. I share your frustration about the attitude towards self-directed learning - honestly, it's the only way I've ever learned anything of value but some people still look down on it.
Two dollars for a tooth? Don't let my kids hear that. The tooth fairy only leaves a quarter at our house, unless it's a 'shiny' tooth (both my boys had crowns) then they get two quarters.
good for your DH pon his computer skills. we have been talking here about degrees and how much we think theyre overrated. i agree that even without that piece of paper (degree) that its more important what you know. i wish companies would see that.
cool beans on the tooth. my son lost his 2 front teeth MONTHS ago, nearly a year ago, and one of them just WILL NOT pop thru the gums. its bulging and swollen but hasnt made an appearance yet.
i hope geen bay was fun! and super cool on the books! its sounds like fun and i think youve inspired me to do the same. i love it when someone has great ideas and we can pick up from each other!
good luck with the computer. mines sick, too so i totally empathize! :o)
