April Fools!

I told my family there was a raccoon in the garage. When they opened the door, this is what they saw.

Sorry the image is blurry. I've been trying to use a new to me camera, and I can't get it to focus correctly.

I've been limping along with my broken camera, but lately I'm losing photos. I purchased a new memory card, but it wouldn't work in my broken camera. I broke the camera years ago when I tripped and fell on it. The battery case barely stays closed and the micro setting stopped working. Now that I'm losing photos, I think its time to upgrade.

I should just buy a new camera but shopping for one is not something I look forward to. There are so many options to choose from. Budget wise I'm not looking for a huge SLR. On the other hand, I want something a step up from point and shoot.

My son saw a water proof, impact resistant up to 5 feet camera that also shoots video. Its the Nikon Coolpix AX100. It also has GPS. I'm very tempted but I can't pull the trigger. Its a little over what I wanted to spend, and how do I know I'll really like it? Such a purchase is difficult for me without being able to test it out first. Of course having an impact resistant camera could make sense for clumsy me!

Then there's the question of should I buy a photo camera that also has video or a video camera that takes stills? Should I just use my phone or my son's I-Pod touch?

I have to figure something out, because I'm realizing I'm not taking enough photos and time is passing us by.

Got any camera/video advice for me?

I just have a 12 mega pixel point and shoot (Olympus), and find that I use my phone more (5 mega pixel) because it is always handy. My phone shoots video, as does the Olympus. I'm not a camera person, though. Hope someone else here can help you!

OH that is so funny!!! What a cute raccoon!! What did they say??? Oh camera shopping. There are so many things out there. I think I have found the camera I want but not sure yet. It's at Sam's and it's suppose to take awesome pictures. So If I zoom in on Johnathan out on the football field you'll be able to see him. But I can't remember the name of it now!! LOL That's not much help. I think I would prefer a camera over my cell phone or an iPod. Sometimes the pictures turn out awesome and other times for us they turn out terrible. I'll have to find out the name and let you know. What is your price range for one?? Hope your new week will be great! Hugs to you

That was a funny trick for sure! I have to agree with Terri; I have a 10-megapixel camera but I hardly use it anymore because my cell phone is so handy to use when taking pictures. And the pictures are very good for sure. It may bring up some poorer results when it's darker but in general it's very good. And the cameras of the phones are developing at a crazy speed!

Only a few hundred dollars. When I bought my original camera, I spent too much money on it considering how quickly technology depreciates. I'd say I have gotten my money's worth out of it before crashing it last year, but only because of how many years I ended up using it. My next purchase I'm thinking it will only be a short time before something newer and better is on the market. Let me know what camera you end up with and how you like it. Thanks!
