I've been summoned for FEDERAL JURY DUTY! Last summer they sent me a questionnaire, and I was hoping my occupation, "homeschooling mom", would be excused. A few years ago I got out of local jury duty this way. Apparently the federal government doesn't understand I can't call in a substitute teacher.

Ugh!! I got an exemption about 5 years ago cause I had a small child and no sitter. I think some might call me unAmerican but I have no desire to do that.
I'm sorry you have been summoned, not many like to do jury duty.
I have one friend who loves it. She doesn't have kids to think about though.
And that is why. I don't have any kids but I wouldn't want to do it either but I wouldn't have a choice. You just have to hope it goes fast Dawn so you get it over and done with lol.
I'm also worried about the loss of income. Jury Duty only pays me $40 a day. My parking fee reimbursement is only $7 a day. If DH hasn't found work by then, we will really feel the loss. I'm not certain if I can expect my employer to make up the difference. I'm only part time.
That's the other downfall of doing jury duty and with being part time I don't think the employer has to make up the difference but you never know they might. Hopefully, DH will have a job. Stay positive Dawn, I know it's hard.
I hate jury duty. I've done it once, and hope I never have to do it again.... ever! Maybe you won't get picked for a jury. I'll cross my fingers for you.
I wouldn't mind it too much I guess, but now that I am single and homeschool I would hope that would place me on hold for a time.
When we moved to ky one of the snail mail was jury stuff and it was a second letter too for my late husband. SO had to have the fun of proving we moved and where.
I am guessing when you tell them this information, you may be excused from serving. :o)
